Challenge

Create a Kids’ Crash Course on Life

With financial literacy being introduced to Canadian curriculums, teachers had to move quickly to adapt. We identified an opportunity for RBC to offer their expertise.

Strategy

Take Math Into the Real World

Our goal was to develop an interactive  education experience tailored to grades 4 and 5 students across the GTA. It needed to be accessible both virtually and in-person and, most importantly, it needed to be digestible for little minds with big imaginations.

Solution

Add Learning to the Grocery List

To make the content relevant, practical and fun, we created an online and in-person grocery-themed experience. Through this familiar and fun setup, kids learned how to apply what they were learning in books to real life. For example, what’s the difference between needs and wants? Should you use chequing or savings? How do credit cards work? From multiplication tables to putting food on the table, the kids shopped until they could drop serious knowledge.

The Proof

Kids Say the Darndest Things

The feedback from teachers and students was overwhelmingly positive.Even though kids can be, well, a little too honest sometimes, they shared they had never had so much fun learning.
